For the name, how about a simple name like: “Location Bible Church”
If it is in Yeronga, it can be called “Yeronga Bible Church”

Alternatively, if you don’t want to be geographically specific, it could be called:
“Inner-South Bible Church”, “Metro-South Bible Church” or “Southside Bible Church”.

I’m thinking that Bible is at the root of evangelical, and still communicates something to those who are churched and interested and those who not and might find themselves invtied to it. It may be that “Southside Bible church – location” may stick in the days ahead.

I know what you mean about evangelical Dan… few get the difference between evangelical and evangelistic. Yet it is our word…
How do others feel about the redeemer’s branch?
As I’ve chatted with various people, beyond simply ’southside church’ the couple that have come to the fore are:

I was looking for a biblical description of god’s people that helps to convey. While i was reading jeramiah came across the term the ‘righteous branch’ to describe the faithful who were justified by god.

I thought that maybe if we tweaked it to ‘redeemer’s branch’ it carries some of what we hope to be in a title.

We are redeemed not by ourselves but by the actions of another.

There is the sugguestion of an organic metahpor, where christ is the roots of our congregation sustaining us and supporting us.

In modern useage branch is often associated with a branch of a larger organisation, which we are , the local face of christ’s global community.

You could shorten it to: The RB, or A RB

although it could sound a to be trying a little to hard for a name.

It might be a bit boring, but I’m quite partial to evangelical church.

The problems with this are that it’s not very snappy and unfortunately very few people correctly understand what it means to be ‘evangelical’.

However it is descriptive and true…
